Marilyn Sheriff
Office AdministratorBSc, MSc
Marilyn’s first degree was a double major in Accounting & Management Studies from The University of the West Indies, in Kingston, Jamaica (The UWI), but her aptitude for administration and keen interest in the ‘people’ side of workplaces redirected her career into Human Resources. As a student at The UWI, she also earned a Certificate in Supervisory Management (2007) and a Master of Science in International Public and Development Management (2020). As an employee at the same institution, she worked her way up from contract positions to permanent Senior HR Assistant roles in Talent Management and Administration & Support Services and served as Acting Human Resource Officer for Staffing. Her first stay in Toronto, in 2017, was as a CARICOM Faculty Leadership Program scholarship recipient: her placement in the University of Toronto’s Centre for Learning, Leadership & Culture not only deepened her resolve to continue her HR education but also made her a huge fan of the Victorian architecture in and around U of T’s downtown campus. In 2022 Marilyn moved to Canada to enrol in the Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management program at Niagara College Toronto. She began working part-time at PLANT, and now, having completed her studies, is our full-time Office Administrator. It’s a win-win situation: we provide a work environment that aligns well with her wide-ranging creative interests, and her expertise helps our studio work better and smarter.
