Calvin Chiu
Senior Architect BES, MArch, OAA, RAIC, LEED GA

Born in Hong Kong and educated primarily in Canada, Calvin gained 18 years of intercontinental professional experience before joining PLANT as a Senior Architect. Shortly after completing his Master of Architecture degree at the University of Waterloo, he worked for a London, UK, retail design firm (2007–2009). He then moved to Toronto and spent four years with Lundholm Associates Architects, a firm specializing in design and functional programming for cultural institutions. Curious to know more about the culture and contemporary design milieu of his childhood home, Calvin moved back to Hong Kong in 2014, where he would be part of P&T Group, one of the city’s largest architectural firms, for a decade. Rising to the rank of Senior Associate at P&T, he was a lead designer on new-build hotel, office tower, and social housing developments and also managed multiple large-scale corporate renovations. Calvin has spent months at a time travelling in various parts of the world and considers India and Japan to be two of the most fascinating countries he’s explored so far. His current PLANT projects range from Toronto Community Housing Corporation townhouse renovations to the wetland-spanning entrance bridge now in construction at Town of Newmarket’s Mulock Park.
