Thistletown II Townhouses
Built in 1968, Thistletown II consists of 111 two-storey townhouses, laid out in a series of varying blocks, connected by shared courtyards and walking paths. PLANT was hired to oversee the complete renovation and re-cladding of the exteriors, including envelope performance improvement, windows and exterior door replacement, roofing replacement, foundation wall waterproofing, and ventilation system upgrades in all townhouses. The improvements will extend building life expectancy and enhance building energy performance.
As part of the exterior re-cladding, PLANT updated the facade design and materials, bringing a fresh and modern appearance to the townhomes. A new steel entrance canopy and larger sidelights and transom windows were added to the front door, along with new unit identification. Each courtyard has a different colour accent as well as new signage throughout to help with orientation across the site. Two alternate facade treatments also add to the courtyard identification and orientation.
All townhomes will be 100% occupied during construction. Thus, construction will be carefully coordinated to have the least amount of disruption on the community.
