Elizabeth Fry Society
Elizabeth Fry Toronto provides transitional residence and community support for women who are, or have been at risk of being in conflict with the law.
Constructed in 1968, the building had not been refurbished except for minor repairs. PLANT Architect was engaged to provide phased renovations to this four-storey, purpose-built building. Our work included new finishes and millwork throughout, the reorganization of offices, accessibility upgrades, new lighting, plumbing, waterproofing, and building upgrades to mechanical and electrical systems. The new, bright interior concept addresses the building’s former poor lighting and poor air quality, creating a more functional, welcoming space for staff, residents, and visitors. As part of this project, we were required to liaise with department heads, and we helped with grant applications to secure funding.
