Congratulations to PLANT intern architect Patricia Joong. An abridged version of her McGill University master’s has been published in Bracket, an almanac highlighting emerging critical issues at the juncture of architecture, environment, and digital culture. Patricia’s thesis, “Dam(ned)scapes,” considers the unfolding environmental and social consequences of China’s Three Gorges Dam megaproject and proposes a remediation of the Yangtze River through the phased notching of the dam that now spans 2.3 km across it. Her text appears in the “Hacked Landscapes” section of Bracket [At Extremes], the almanac’s third issue. Bracket is a joint initiative of Toronto’s InfraNet Lab and the U.S. online architectural forum Archinect.
