Peter Lindsay Schaudt 1959–2015

PLANT is very sad to announce that our dear friend and collaborator Peter Lindsay Schaudt died suddenly on July 19th. Peter’s passing will be keenly felt both by our studio, and by the broader Landscape Architecture and Architecture communities.

Peter’s depth of experience and seriousness of purpose was always complemented by his ever-present good humour (as evidenced in the team photo above), and the genuine friendship that was always in evidence.

Peter’s professional honours were myriad and well-deserved, and the work of his office was varied and rich (and can be seen presented beautifully at Hoerr Schaudt’s website ).

However, the honour that Peter cherished the most profoundly was the AIA Collaborative Achievement award, which he received in 2011. Peter was always delighted to collaborate with new teams, and his gift for reaching past the false boundaries of different disciplines to the benefit of the project was remarkable. Certainly, everyone at PLANT benefited from Peter’s insights and knowledge, and his eagerness to share them with everyone else at the table.

We had an altogether too brief time enjoying the company of Peter, but the legacy he leaves us, and the lessons he taught us, have changed the way we see landscape, and leave the world a richer place.

We will miss you, Peter.
