Summer has just started and we don’t want to wish it away, but we’re looking forward to September 20. That’s when PLANT’s partners will be travelling to Ottawa to collect a 2016 Governor General’s Medal in Architecture for the Nathan Phillips Square Revitalization. This project has already received two other major awards this year: a National Urban Design Awards medal and, for the Peace Garden at Nathan Phillips Square, a National Award of Excellence from the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects. While the summer sun shines, head on down to the square for events including the Fresh Wednesdays Farmers’ Market (Wednesdays between July 6 and August 24) and the Tasty Thursdays festival of food-truck treats and thrills from the grill (Thursdays between July 7 and August 25).
