For those of you who remember our post earlier this year on Track Toronto, you’ll pleased to know that the groundbreaking initiative led by Chloe Doesburg, Jonathon Tyrrell, and PLANT’s very own Lauren Barhydt has gained traction – and seen its fair share of good press. The trio has created an online resource that promotes musical explorations of the city, specifically Toronto-focused songwriting and music. Track Toronto recently expanded its virtual collection to the public realm: beginning with a small cluster of signs, eight in total, all within easy walking distance of each other in Toronto’s west-end neighbourhood. The signs have a lyric sample, the song name and artist, and a QR bar code that steers your smartphone to a playable song stream so you can listen on the spot.

Track Toronto’s musical map of the city can be found here. A map of the Parkdale sign project can be found here.
