Sutton House

View of columns

This 560 sf addition nearly doubled the size of the original 785 sf Pan-Abode kit log house in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. without compromising the bulk of the house. The addition thinly wraps the house on two sides to create a dining nook, expansion of the living room for a TV area, and a “tower room” – a two-storey guest room with slanted hand-crafted stair which also fives internal access to a new basement craftsman workshop. The form of the addition continues the highly articulated existing roofline. Inside, structural columns were carved from the 6 × 8 cedar logs removed during the renovation.
