Market Square Condominium

The entry foyer

This two-bedroom condominium in Toronto was completely transformed to respond directly to the need of this older couple to dismantle their house and accommodate their very personal furnishings – an exemplary collection of classic Danish Modern teak furniture – and substantial art collection into a smaller, more modern and open plan space. New cherry built-in shelving, wood trim, painting hangers, column and lighting were all designed to suit and complement the collections. A new cabinet wall provides a spatial and material transition between kitchen and dining with a two-sided sideboard at the bottom, folding doors to shut the kitchen views, and open display shelving. The lower cabinet is cherry toward the living room and maple toward the kitchen to complement the new lighter wood kitchen cabinets.
